Gin & Gingerbread

Gin and Guinness sounds like an unusual combination, but with a touch of gingerbread it tastes incredibly festive. This recipe is inspired by the Victorian 'purl' or 'dog's nose' drinks which featured gin, spice and warm beer. This version, however, is served cold, but see our Gingerbread Purl recipe if you'd like something similar but warmer.

One of the beagle's favourite things about this drink (apart from its relationship to the 'dog's nose') is the creamy texture that the Guinness gives. If you serve this cold enough and froth it up well enough, it can feel like a toasted gingerbread ice cream float. As well as that, the froth created by the aerated Guinness gives an excellent surface for a sprinkling of grated cinnamon.

Delicious!
