Velvet Goldmine

Sweet Carribean falernum and tangerine cordial turn this into a Christmas daiquiri variant.

Velvet Goldmine was a cult 1998 movie starring Ewan McGregor, so I'm not entirely sure what it has to do with this festive recipe - I guess you'd have to ask the staff at The Courtesy, Orlando who came up with the drink.

In any event, it is a delicately spiced and citric drink - perectly refreshing and a nice break from all the rich food and drink of the festive season.

Velvet Goldmine

45ml aged rum
15ml fresh lime juice
15ml tangerine cordial
barspoon of falernum

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with cubed ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled coupe glass.

Tangerine Cordial - Combine the zest and juice of six tangerines with an equal volume of sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Rest in the fridge overnight and then strain. Keep (in the fridge) for up to one week.
