Camomile Hot Toddy

"At this time of year I like a little whisky in my camomile tea before bed. I find it keeps the chill out from your paws long enough for you to fall asleep. How about it?" - Fox, Christmas with Fox & Beagle

I couldn't have put it better myself. This Camomile Hot Toddy is a twist on the classic whisky, lemon and honey cure-all which uses camomile tea instead of boiling water, and comes with a touch of festive spice thanks to the cinnamon, cloves and star anise.

Camomile is famous for aiding a restful night's sleep, and in amongst the madness of all the shopping, wrapping, cooking, baking and partying at this time of year we could all do with some of that! And that's before we consider the old wive's tale of the restorative nature of the hot toddy. If you're feeling run down, a larger the dose of whisky might help you fall asleep faster, while the honey can help soothe a sore throat.

All of this and more is why Fox believes her Camomile Toddy recipe is perfect when served as a fireside nightcap before you pad off to bed on a cold winter's night.
